What is a BREEAM Assessment?

A BREEAM Assessment evaluates a building’s performance across key environmental categories:

  • Energy Efficiency
  • Health & Wellbeing
  • Transport
  • Water Usage
  • Materials & Waste
  • Pollution Control
  • Land Use & Ecology
  • Management Practices

Each category contains credits, and your overall score determines your final rating.

We help you identify which credits are achievable based on your design, budget, and timeline—then support you with gathering evidence, completing reports, and submitting to BRE for certification.

When Is a BREEAM Assessment Required

While BREEAM is voluntary, many local authorities require it as part of planning conditions—particularly for:

  • Large residential developments
  • Commercial offices and retail spaces
  • Public sector buildings (schools, hospitals, council buildings)
  • Major refurbishments or extensions

Early engagement is key. By considering BREEAM from the concept stage, your project has a much better chance of securing the required rating with minimal disruption or redesign.

Our BREEAM Services Include

  • Pre-Assessment Reports to support planning applications
  • Design Stage Assessments with targeted advice for achieving credits
  • Post-Construction Reviews and final certification
  • BREEAM Advisory Professional (AP) Support (upon request)
  • Evidence Review & Document Management
  • Cross-Disciplinary Coordination (architects, MEP consultants, contractors)

We can also combine our BREEAM services with complementary assessments such as sound insulation testing, air tightness testing, and climate change statement surveys—helping you streamline your compliance process under one roof.
